Moto Z3 Play 5G Review
The Moto Z3 Play is a special presentation from Motorola company that is the cheapest phone with 5G available option through Moto Mods. The midrange phone, its 10x zoom camera, loudspeaker and many other specifications are part of this Moto Z3 Play Review.
Moto Z3 Play is available with an expansive 6-inch display that’s too without a notch, with an attractive design and above all compatibility with 5G Moto mods.
5G Moto Mod
Many other phones are good competitors of Moto Z3 Play with a better battery, better camera, speed performance and low price. Yet there is something unique with Moto Z3 Play, that is Moto Mods which improves the phone up to 5G. Moto Z phones are compatible with Moto Mods that are missing in others and is special for the Moto Z line.
The Motorola company is offering Moto Z3 Play that’s compatible with Moto Mods through Verizon only.
Design & Display
Moto Z3 Play is not different in design and display as compare to its predecessors because it needs to be compatible with Moto Mods for 5G up-gradation.
The phone is a 76.5 x 156.5 x 6.75mm body with an aluminium frame, a glass back, and a Gorilla Glass 3 screen. Its weight is 156g, which is a well-balanced weight for a Moto phone. The screen lock button is on the left side, and the volume buttons are on the right side just above a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The location of the fingerprint is easy to hit for unlocking, which can also be accidentally unlocked with thumb touch especially when putting it in the pocket.
There is no headphone jack and for charging Moto Z3 Play has a USB-C 3.1 jack at the bottom edge. There is no speaker grille, instead of the earpiece above the screenplays the duty of the speaker too.
The display of the phone is great when 6-inch AMOLED comes on. The Moto Z3 Play phone is with a resolution of Full HD+, or 2,160 x 1,080.
The phone is of quality design that most people will only experience once. The SIM tray of the Moto Z3 Plays never let it be loose as it squeezes the sim.
The phone is with a single sim port and there is not yet a water resistance option in Z3 Play. The phone is covered with much glass and needs to have a protective cover at back but due to access for Moto Mods at back resists its extra protection.back to menu ↑
The Moto Z3 Play is a mid-range phone with Snapdragon 636 octa-core chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The storage of the phone is expandable up to 2TB with a microSD card. It is all with hardware that runs Android 8.1 Oreo on the software side.
The Motorola premium phones are available with Moto Actions that are capable to take a screenshot, turn on the flashlight, open the camera app, mute the ringer, and more with simple gestures, taps, and swipes.
The camera of Moto Z3 Play is not strong enough to be a good point of its sale, although it is a dual sensor system, where the secondary camera is just 5MP which is dedicated to the sensing path. The primary camera is 12 MP which shoots well but not good enough and also gives a ready noise of OK.
The images taken by Z3 Play are good enough on its screen, but pixel deteriorates on the big screen.
The Moto Z3 Play phone is with a standard battery of 3,000mAh, as it will consume 15% only when used for 90 minutes of Full HD video with the display at maximum brightness.
The turbo power charging is an excellent feature that charges the Z3 Play phone in 15 minutes from 0% to 31%, to 56% in 30 minutes, and to 100% in 85 minutes.
The Moto power pack doubles its battery life although it warms the phone a bit when attached at back.back to menu ↑
The Moto Z3 Play is not the cheapest or best mid-range phone out there. The Moto Z3 Play bring out plenty of performance, and up-to-date Android OS, and the Z family’s signature modularity all at a fairly low price.
The only difference between the Moto Z3 Play and Moto Z3 is that Z3 is with good camera powerful internals while the price tag is 20$ less.
The only recommendation for Moto Z3 Play over Z3 is when you have nothing to do with Verizon.
Moto Z3 Play 5G Pros & Consback to menu ↑
- No competitors in modularity
- Good specs at a mid-range price
- Fast charging
- Low standard camera
- Lower in quality than Moto Z3
- low profile design
