Moto Z3 5G Review
Motorola has invented something unique of its brand, as its latest brand Moto Z3 is an exclusive phone with an upgradable option of 5G. The 5G Moto Mods are well compatible with the Moto Z3 phone which is available at midrange price and stunning features. In this review of the Moto Z3 phone, we are going to discuss its uniqueness briefly.
Verizon is collaborating with 5G technology first time and giving the option of Moto Mods to upgrade its 4G LTE speed carrying Moto Z3 phone to 5G.
The best buying option for the Moto Z3 phone is to get it through Verizon, where you will find it a solid phone with midrange price and above all Moto Mod device. The Verizon-supported phone sells for $480 and on two years plan, it is available for $20 per month.
back to menu ↑DISPLAY

Moto Z3 includes an aluminum body along with gorilla glass having 2.5D shaped and rounded corners. 6-inch edge to edge screen provides perfect viewing experience having HD+ and super AMOLED display an 18:9 aspect ratio gives you the best sleek and smooth display. That shiny and sleek display gives Moto Z3 a beautiful and stylish look.
Moto Z3 is a great phone with a 6-inch screen supported with a fast fingerprint reader on its right side, and a fast processor, even with its old processor Snapdragon 835. The phone is not as great as expected when stripped off of the Moto Mod.
back to menu ↑DESIGN
Moto Z3 is covered with an aluminum body for better protection and has sides of aluminum to prevent it from damage. Moto Z3 is a low-weight phone that only weighs 156g and you will not get tired after using this phone for a couple of hours. This device allows you to use two networks at a time because of dual-sim standby.
The Moto Z3 phone is a glossy, slim smartphone with gorgeous glass front-and-rear that will easily slip in your pocket.
The Moto Z3 phone is splashproof and not completely water-resistant. The phone is without a headphone jack but is with 3.5mm USB-C port. The phone has a decent built-in-storage of 64GB and 4GB RAM.
Moto Z3 has a strong battery of 3,000mAh that is enough for day time.
The Moto Z3 phone is a lighter one weighing only156g, which makes it lighter than iPhone XS(171g) and Samsung Note 9 (201g). The additional weight of 70g with Moto Z3 is of its power pack which adds 2,200mAh of battery life and Moto Mod.
One of the big differences in the glass on the front and back sides, the sizable camera bump and strip on the back to connect pins of Mods.
Moto Z3 retained the option of the side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is convenient to unlock the phone. The phone can easily even accidentally and unintentionally be unlocked.
Though the Moto Z3 phone is a bit older than the latest Samsung S21 series still it has something the same in its design and that is the absence of a 3.5mm headset jack port. It means what Motorola was in 2018 is Samsung in 2021.
back to menu ↑PROCESSOR
The Moto Z3 phone runs on a 2.35GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and originally Android 8.1 Oreo and it is currently Android 9.0 Pie. Moto Z3 gives you the best features at a normal price.
The Motorola phones, software features are consistent in almost all models including its gesture navigation that is more friendly than Google Android P.
This Moto Z3 review is being written when there are already 5G built-in phones are available in the market yet Motorola got something unique besides. The high-grade companies that are featuring with built-in 5G technology are presently Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, LG many more. The price of Motorola Z3 is far behind the well-renowned companies, which is a great plus point for 5G users to enjoy it in a midrange.
back to menu ↑The Moto Z3 5G Moto Mods
the Moto Z3 phone currently available only in the USA, though the phone is budget friendly still you need to buy a separate Moto Mod device to expand it to 5G technology, which hangs on its back.
Verizon is not selling and Moto Mod to you, pay and carry the device, you should show ownership of the Moto Z3 phone or buy a new one at the spot to get a 5G device. Besides, you need to become a subscriber of Verizon’s unlimited plans and pay a $10 monthly fee, and Verizon will give you 5G data for 3 months that’s free of cost. Although Verizon is selling 5G Moto Mod for $200 while it retails at $350, which means you would love to compromise with Verizon.
You will automatically switch on to the 4G network, once you step out of 5G coverage.
The 5G signals give the speed up to 448Mbps as compare to 50-60 Mbps of 4G network.
back to menu ↑BATTERY
The Moto Z3 phone comes with a battery pack of 3,000mAh that’s enough for one day’s use without any problem. Although the phone battery is not with higher wattage of 18W yet it is satisfactory with 15W, cause this fast charging is better than nothing.
The phone battery is not all this besides it has an add-on battery life of 2,200mAh through Moto Mod, yet the customers’ review regarding Moto Z3 add-on battery life are not fully satisfactory. The additional battery life burns out quickly and is not getting charged through Moto Z3 itself.
The plus point of the extra battery is that it does not hide the bottom side USB-C port and side buttons.
Moto z3 with its mid-range price offers the best features with 5G mod and a good processor, the display is also well but in this price tag battery capacity is very low and the battery is the main thing for better user experience so the choice is yours.
back to menu ↑CAMERA
The Moto Z3 comes with the primary camera of 12MP with f/2.0 lens paired, with monochrome for low light, and shoots respectably up to 1080p of 60fps.
The dual camera of 5MP that is with face detection with autofocus that gives us the best-focused pictures panorama and auto HDR mode also present which gives us bright pictures in night mode. The Selfie camera is 8MP provides us best selfies on the edge.
back to menu ↑Verdict
The study, search, and reading of the customers’ reviews about Moto Z3 has brought us to the conclusion that the phone is with a simple design and it lacks flagship features. The phone is still powerful when compared to its price, which is a strong point in its favor, strong enough to support its recommendations for you. The secret weapon that it carries with it through Verizon is its 5G Moto Mod that converts a simple cheaper phone into the latest 5G technology.
